Install and configure Resource Hero

This post will walk you through the process of installing Resource Hero if you are a new Salesforce customer or an existing one.  In either case, start by navigating to the Resource Hero AppExchange listing.


After clicking the Get It Now button you will be presented with the following options.


If you are an existing Salesforce customer, click on the Log in to the Appexchange button then follow the onscreen prompts to log into your existing Salesforce environment.  If you are not an existing customer, click on the I don’t have a login button in order to sign up for a new trial.

If you are not an existing customer

If you continue as a guest, you will be presented with a form asking for your name and other details.  After reviewing the terms and conditions, click the Sign me up! button.


After a short period of time, you should receive an email from Salesforce with your new login information to a fully functioning salesforce environment with a pre-configured version of Resource Hero which is already setup and ready for you to begin your test drive.


If you are an existing customer

You will be asked to log in and then provide your payment information.  Note: the following screens may look slightly different depending on your edition and specific licensing agreement with Salesforce.  Follow the prompts until you are presented with the installation screen.


Once you are presented with the installation screen, you are required to select which of your users should be granted access to Resource Hero fields, object and screens.

Most customers should select the middle option, Install for All Users, which will ensure that all users have the proper permissions should they be assigned a license in the next step.

Once you make your selection, click the Install button.


Once the installation is complete, click the Done button to return to your Salesforce org.  You may see a message stating that the installation is taking a long time to complete.  In these cases, you will receive an email once the installations finishes.



Adding Resource Hero fields and visualforce pages to the Opportunity page layout.

All required fields and visualforce pages for Resource Hero to work on the Opportunity object are included as part of the installation process.  In order to start using them there is one configuration step that must be completed first.

From setup, enter Object Manager in the quick find search box then click on Object Manager

Click on the Opportunity object


If you would like to use the page layout that comes pre configured with Resource Hero, you can do so by assigning the Resource Hero Opportunity Layout to your users by clicking the Page Layout Assignments button.

If you would prefer to add Resource Hero to your existing layouts, select the edit button from the list of options to the right.

Create sections and add Resource Hero fields to the layout:


Add Resource Hero matrices to the layout (forecast, actual or both).  Ensure that the height of the page is adjusted by clicking on the properties icon (looks like a wrench) on the top right of the visualforce page box and entering at least 340 for height.


Click the Save button.  You should now see resource hero on your opportunity page layout.
